Low-profile DOSA converters power in

Recom’s RPM modules increase the power density of DOSA-packaged DC/DC converters and offer a 99 per cent efficiency enabling a low-profile package suitable for applications where space is critical.

The new power modules offer have a profile of only 3.75mm and provide either 1, 2, 3, or even 6A in the same-sized package for scalability.

The 6A module is claimed by the company to have at least 50% higher power density than its peers on the market, owing to a new IC and a novel multi-layer PCB layout.

Thermally optimised to pull the heat away from the board and without derating the module delivers more than 800W/in³ at up to 90 degrees C.

With a ground plane in the PCB together with the metal housing, 6-sided shielding boosts EMC performance.

With input and output capacitors already included, the RPM series operates without the need for additional components. They are SMD with a land-grid-array package.

Recom has also developed evaluation boards, which will be released by end of October to make testing quick and easy.

RPM samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.

The company supplies a full range of DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class up to 960W alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a selection of designs.

Although company headquarters are Gmunden, Austria, where there is a logistics centre and laboratory wing, Recom has a worldwide distribution network to deliver the company’s products to customers worldwide.
