M12 circular connector simplicity boost
The new Y-Circ M12 D4 field assembly connector from Yamaichi Electronics consists of two assembly groups screwed together. When screwed together, two spring elements press on the shielding to ensure a 360-degree shielding connection. At the same time, the strands are contacted by insulation displacement which is said by Yamaichi to guarantee secure data transmission of 100 megabits per second.
Connector assembly is said to be simple with no additional special tools or processes required. Measuring 52.6mm with a maximum circumference of 17.3 mm, the field-assembly connector is claimed to be the smallest tool-free D4-coded connector on the market.
Yamaichi says that other models, such as the field-assembly X8-coded M12 (with data transmission up to 10 gigsbits per second) can be easily configured by using the online configurator. The configurator helps simplify access to technical documents, 3D models and the associated assembly instructions.
The field-assembly M12 connectors from Yamaichi complement pre-assembled connectors owing to their slim and short design, even in confined installation spaces. For example, they offer advantages when laying cables in a cable duct or when the required cable length is unknown. It is also easy to replace the connector in cable assemblies that have already been laid, says the company.
