M8 signal cable connectors are field-wireable

Snap-in cable connectors from binder are designed to simplify safe signal transmission in sensor-actuator applications. It has snap-in quick locking and three-, four-, five- or six-pin versions.

The straight, over-moulded M8 snap-in connector has been added to the 718 series by binder. It is suitable for industrial applications that require reliable signal transmission, yet which have limited space for installation.

It is available with either PUR or PVC cables up to 2.0 or 5.0m standard length. Customised lengths are also available, on request. The locking mechanism does not require any rotating elements, making the connectors easy to handle and efficient in use, says binder.

Sensors and actuators are core elements in today’s automation technology and circular connectors, with screw lock or quick lock fastenings, are well established for use in signal transmission in plant engineering, conveyor technology or within drones.

The M8 snap-in circular connectors of the 718 series, meets IP65 protection requirements when mated. Contacts are gold-plated brass for male and bronze for female contacts and these allow a minimum of 50 mating cycles.

Rated voltages are between 30 and 60V and the connector is suitable for rated currents of 1.5 to 3.0A, depending on the wire gauge and number of pins. Three- and four-pin versions are specified for 2.0A (0.14 mm2 wire gauge) and for 4.0A (0.25 mm2, 0.34 mm2, and AWG 22), respectively. The five- and six-pin versions are for 3.0A and 1.5A, respectively. The connectors withstand rated impulse voltages of 1,500V (three- and four-pin) and 800V (five- and six-pin).

All connectors in the series operate over the -40 to +70 degrees C temperature range in static condition.

binder also offers further variants or even customer-specific solutions with the snap-in latch, on request.

binder is a family-owned business based in Neckarsulm, Germany. It specialises in circular connectors. It has 45 distribution partners on five continents and employs 1,800 staff worldwide. The binder group is comprised of the binder headquarters, 16 affiliated companies, two systems providers and an Innovation and Technology Centre.
