Marketch Optoelectronics packages SWIR emitters in CSP
Short wave infra red (SWIR) emitters have been integrated into a single chip scale package (CSP). It is claimed to be the first surface mount version available.
The SWIR LEDs or emitters are available in wavelengths ranging from 1040 to 1650nm.
The SWIRs have up to two times the output power of conventional SWIR LED chips, says Marktech but in a compact CSP which enables high stacking density on a PCB and a small footprint of 1.6 x 1.6mm. The SWIR component reliability is based on a long mean time between failures (MTBF) for a long lifetime. The package is also claimed to have lower thermal resistance compared to plastic leaded chip frame (PLCC) SMD SWIR LEDs.
The compact emitter with high power output will enable engineers to shrink and enhance optoelectronic SWIR design with new products suitable for use in industrial applications.
