Medical-grade AC/DC sets record for smallest board-mount model

Recom said its latest 6W AC/DC converter has set a record for the smallest 6W board mount AC/DC model. The medical grade RACM06E-K/277 measures just 1.0 x 1.0 inches (25.6 x 25.6mm).
The RACM06E-K/277 has input nominal voltages of 100 to 277V AC (80 to 305V AC, 120 to 430V DC) for worldwide use. Isolation is reinforced / 2MOPP for applications as diverse as household to patient-connect medical uses.
A range of outputs is available, namely 3.3, 5.0, 12, 15 and 24V. High efficiency, maintained down to light loads, enables operation from -40 to +90 degrees C ambient with a full load rating up to 60 degrees C. Full protection is provided against over-temperature, output short-circuits and over-voltage.
Safety certifications include IT / multimedia, medical, industrial and household, as well as ‘Class B’ EMC specifications which are met with good margin with a ‘floating’ load, confirmed Recom. For medical use, touch current is less than 0.1mA for body-floating (BF) patient-connect applications and no-load dissipation is 120mW maximum for compliance with eco-design requirements.
The RACM06E-K/277 is characterised for operation to 5000m altitude in over-voltage category II (OVC II) environments to IEC / EN 62368-1 and to 3000m for OVC III according to IEC 61558-2-16. The part is encapsulated with a plastic casing. The case size is 25.6 x 25.6 x 16.6mm and the weight is just 20g.
Parts include a three-year warranty and samples, and OEM pricing is available from all authorised distributors, or directly from Recom.
Recom Power GmbH manufactures a full range of standard and customised DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class from sub-1W to tens of kW, as well as switching regulators and LED drivers in a wide selection of formats.
The company headquarters are located in Gmunden, Austria, and include a logistics, research and development centre and laboratory wing. The manufacturer is supported by a worldwide distribution network.
