MekaMon robot engages students
Developed by Reach Robotics, the Berserker v2 robot and app is now available from RS Components. It delivers both entertainment and an exceptional coding and learning experience for students and engineers of all ages, says the distributor.
The MekaMon Berserker v2 robot is the world’s first gaming robot, explains RS Components, but it can also be used for robotics engineers and hobbyists, and for a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students from primary school, up to engineering undergraduates at university.
The MekaMon is a fully programmable four-legged robot with ‘limbs’ that have three degrees of freedom. It is designed for use with the robot is the ReachEdu app, which enables students and others to connect to their Apple or Android based device and helps them learn how to code.
Visual programming suites, such as MekaDraw, MekaMotion and MekaCode, enable the ReachEdu app to provide users with a comprehensive introduction to coding without the need for any prior specialist knowledge. It enables them to create their own programs for the robot too, adds RS Components. At introductory levels, there are built-in guided-learning missions or adventures, intended to transition the learning experience from simple block-based programming to writing code and enabling users to access a range of input and output commands and take full advantage of MekaMon’s suite of sensors and fluidic movements.
The MekaMon Berserker v2 robot offers Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity and 1.5 hours of play for each 60-minute battery charge. It is available in three colours – black, white or grey and is shipping now from RS in the EMEA region.
