MicroSys SoMs are now available from EBV Elektronik in EMEA

System on modules (SoMs) and SoM-based application ready platforms from MicroSys Electronics are now available from EBV Elektronik, an Avnet company. This agreement will help to expand its customer reach across the EMEA region.

The co-operation with EBV will complement MicroSys’ miriac SoMs, single board computers (SBCs) and custom specific systems, which are based on the latest NXP processor technology. Customers are provided with access to top-level engineering and application advice, as well as support for any additional market-specific requirements.

Ina Schindler, managing director of MicroSys, says: “With this channel agreement, we will be able to gain greater traction throughout EMEA, providing customers with the high level of attention that they deserve.”

“We see huge untapped potential here for its advanced board-level technology and highly-focused engineering know-how,” comments Ulrich Schmidt, director for high-end processing at EBV Elektronik. “This agreement will give us another avenue through which to assist our customers in finding the best SoM or SBC solution for their particular application scenario,” he adds.

MicroSys’ products and services address a wide array of different industry segments, including automation, avionics, automotive, medical, rail and transportation, construction and mobile machines.

MicroSys Electronics has been designing and developing embedded system solutions since 1975, is an NXP Gold Partner and widely integrates NXP’s S32 automotive, layerscape and QorIQ processor technology. The portfolio ranges from application-ready SoMs and customer-specific carrier board designs to fully integrated systems. These rugged designs with long-term availability are primarily found in markets where safety standards analogue to IEC 61508 are required, such as railway technology (EN 50155), aviation (DO-160) and mobile machinery (ISO 13849), as well as manufacturing robots (ISO 10218), control systems (IEC 62061) and drive systems (IEC 61800-5-2). They can also be used in medical technology (60601) and in critical infrastructures, like the nuclear sector (IEC 61513) or the process industry (IEC 61511).

EBV Elektronik was founded in 1969 and is a specialist in European semiconductor distribution. EBV has 240 technical sales specialists and 120 continuously trained application specialists. With the EBVchips Program, EBV, together with its customers, defines and develops new semiconductor products.
