Modular power supplies reduce footprint by 15 per cent
Reducing the footprint of AC/DC modular power supplies, the QM4 series has been introduced by TDK-Lambda. Case dimensions are 108 x 63.5 x 270mm and the power supplies weigh between 1.125 and 1.845kg, depending on the module configuration.
The QM4 can accept up to four single or dual output modules and a dual output standby/signal board to provide up to 10 outputs.
The supplies have low acoustic noise and full means of patient protection (MOPP) isolation and medical and industrial safety certification for use in BF-rated medical equipment, test and measurement, broadcast, communications and renewable energy.
The QM4 can deliver 650W output power with a 180 to 264V AC input and 550W with a wide range 90 to 264V AC input. Output voltages from 2.8 to 105.6V can be specified and an optional standby or signal module can be fitted. There is a choice of one or two standby voltages (5,0, 12 and 13.5V at up to 2A), a PMBus communication interface, unit inhibit or enable, and an AC-good signal.
Operating temperature range is -20 to +70 degrees C, with derating output power and output current by 2.5 per cent per degree C above 50 degrees C. Operating efficiency is up to 91 per cent for minimal internal heat loss, which also allows the use of a low speed, low audible noise fan for cooling.
The series is covered by a seven-year warranty.
The QM series power supplies are certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60601‑1, ANSI/AAMI ES 60601‑1, IEC/EN 61010‑1 and IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950‑1, with CE marking for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS2 Directives.
The QM4 has a maximum earth leakage current of 300 microA, while still complying with the EN61000-6-3:2007 and EN60601-1-2:2015 (curve B conducted and radiated) emission standards. The units also meet the EN60601-1-2 and EN61000-6-2 immunity standards.
