Mouser adds Maxim’s MAX77860 switch-mode buck charger
Designed by Maxim Integrated Products for portable equipment and mobile devices, the MAX77860 switch-mode buck charger is now available from Mouser Electronics.
The charger combines a wide input voltage range and USB Type-C CC detection, for USB Type-C charging for single-cell (1S) lithium-ion or lithium-polymer applications, portable medical equipment, portable industrial equipment, and mobile point of sale (POS) devices, as well as smartphones and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
The MAX77860 step-down charger has an input operating range of 4.0 to 13.5V and support for USB Type-C CC detection with reverse boost capability to power USB on-the-go (OTG) accessories.
The charger includes two integrated switches and a single input for both USB and high-voltage adapters. The device’s I²C programmable settings allow it to accommodate a broad range of system loads and battery sizes, adds Mouser. The charger is protected from input overvoltage events of up to 14V and features an input current limit of 4.0A and a battery charging current limit of 3.15A.
The MAX77860 offers a specially designed CC, CV and die temperature regulation algorithm and has an on-chip analogue to digital converter (ADC) to monitor battery voltage, charging input voltage and current, battery temperature, and charging and discharging current.
Mouser also offers Maxim’s MAX77860 evaluation kit, which includes an evaluation board (with onboard MAX77860 charger and an integrated I²C interface) and a MINIQUSB communication device.
