Mouser adds Microchip’s AVR-IoT board for cloud connectivity

Distributor, Mouser Electronics, now offers the AC164160 AVR-IoT WG evaluation board from Microchip Technology. It is designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of

Microchip’s AVR and PIC microcontrollers in Internet of Things (IoT) sensor node applications. The AVR-IoT WG board incorporates smart modules to reduce the burden of complex algorithm implementation by the microcontroller, says the company.

The Microchip AVR-IoT WG evaluation board combines an 8-bit megaAVR 0-series microcontroller with a SmartConnect IoT module and a CryptoAuthentication device to reduce overall application complexity and allows engineers to add Google Cloud connectivity to new and existing devices. The board also incorporates light and temperature sensors, embedded programmer and debugger, and on-board battery charging to support a range of IoT applications.

The board’s Microchip ATmega4808 microcontroller is based on the flexible and low-power AVR architecture, popular for embedded control design. The 20MHz ATmega4808 features a two-cycle hardware multiplier, 48kbytes of flash, 6kbytes of SRAM and 256bytes of EEPROM.

The Microchip ATECC608A is a member of the Microchip CryptoAuthentication family of high-security cryptographic devices which combine world-class hardware-based key storage with hardware cryptographic accelerators to implement various authentication and encryption protocols. The ATECC608A secure element integrates both elliptic curve diffie hellman (ECDH) and elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA) security protocols to safeguard keys and protect IP.

The Microchip ATWINC1500 Wi-Fi network controller specifically optimised for low-power IoT applications. The module offers wireless connectivity, supporting the complete TCP/IP stack and automatically authenticating a server’s connection to the Google Cloud.
