Mouser adds Silicon Labs’ MGM13P Mighty Gecko wireless mesh modules

Distributor Mouser Electronics now stocks the MGM13P Mighty Gecko wireless mesh modules from Silicon Labs.

The MGM13P Mighty Gecko modules are based on the Silicon Labs EFR32MG13 Mighty Gecko SoC. They are a pre-certified, multi-protocol solution for wireless networking. The secure and flexible mesh protocol stacks, an integrated chip antenna, and RF regulatory certification can help developers reduce cost, complexity, and time when designing mesh networking applications, says Mouser.

The wireless mesh modules incorporate a low-power wireless SoC with a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 core with DSP instruction and floating-point unit for efficient signal processing. The SoC offers 64kbytes of RAM, 512kbytes of flash, and up to +10dBm output power (with a +18dBm version available to order from There is also a selection of peripherals. Integrating the crystals, RF passives, and antenna necessary for a system-level implementation of wireless Internet of Things (IoT) mesh networks, the modules free developers from complex RF/antenna design and testing and allows them to focus on their end applications.

The 12.9 x 17.8 x 2.3mm modules consume only 9.9mA in one Mbit per second receive mode and 8.5mA at 0 dB in transmit mode. The MGM13P modules support SoC or network co-processor architectures, and the +10dBm version of the device meets regulatory requirements for IEEE 802.15.4 standard used in both Thread and Zigbee networks.

The MGM13P module is supported by Silicon Labs’ MGM13P Mighty Gecko Radio Boards — for use with the Mighty Gecko Starter Kit — and the Simplicity Studio suite of development and debugging tools that helps accelerate IoT product design. The MGM13P Mighty Gecko wireless mesh modules can be used for connected home lighting and security, smart metering, and health and wellness devices.

Mouser claims to stock the world’s widest selection of the latest semiconductors and electronic components for the newest design projects. Its website is continually updated, offers advanced search methods and house datasheets, supplier-specific reference designs, application notes, technical design information, and engineering tools.
