Mouser Electronics ships Phoenix Contact’s single pair Ethernet connectors
Single pair Ethernet (SPE) connectors from Phoenix Contact are now available from Mouser Electronics. The connectors provide parallel, high-performance transmission of data and power via Ethernet through a single double wire and power over data line (PoDL).
The use of SPE connectors enable uniform, Ethernet-based communication from the sensor to the cloud and feature key technology for Industry 4.0 and industrial IoT (IIoT). This network technology makes consistent IP communication and power supply possible, even within complex industrial applications or in IoT solutions, explains Mouser. The Phoenix Contact series offers ranges of up to 1000m and data transmission rates of up to 1Gbits per second.
SPE utilises new fields of application and enables smart device communication across long distances, for a future-proof network. It also offers more space for electronics, due to the slimmer cables.
Phoenix Contact is a founding member of the Single Pair Ethernet System Alliance. The alliance aims to promote the use of SPE technology in industry and establish uniform standards. The SPE connectors meet IEC 63171-2 and -5 standards and are suitable for applications such as building and industrial automation, robotics, railway industry, and lighting.
