Mouser offers Texas Instruments’ 16-bit ADS112C04 ADC

Low power conversion for small sensor signals is enabled by the 16-bit ADS112C05 delta-sigma analogue to digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments, which is now available through distributor, Mouser.

The ADS112C04 delta-sigma ADC draws currents as low was 315 micro A. The integrated ADC enables reduced system cost and component count in applications that measure small sensor signals, including resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), thermocouples, thermistors, resistive bridge sensors, and medical monitoring systems.

The TI ADS112C04 ADC features two differential or four single-ended inputs through a flexible input multiplexer (MUX), two programmable excitation current sources, programmable gain amplifier (PGA), a voltage reference, a clock oscillator, and a precision temperature sensor. The device offers two conversion modes, single-shot or continuous, and can perform conversions at data rates up to 2,000 samples per second with single cycle settling. At 20 samples per second, the device’s digital filter offers simultaneous 50 and 60Hz rejection for noisy industrial applications, points out Mouser.

The ADC features a two wire, I2C-compatible interface that supports I2C bus speeds up to 1Mbit per second, with two address pins that allow the selection of 16 different I2C addresses for the device.

The 5.0 x 4.40mm TSSOP ADC operates from a wide supply range of 2.3 to 5.5V over a temperature range of minus 40 to 125 degrees C.

The ADS112C04 ADC is supported by the ADS112C04EVM evaluation board and delta-sigma ADC EvaluaTIon software. Mouser says that these are available to help engineers reduce prototype development time and get products to market faster.
