Network synchronisation range has precision for 5G performance

According to Skyworks its portfolio of network synchronisation products for 5G networks allows mobile operators deploying 5G fronthaul equipment to offer next-generation mobile connectivity for customers.

The product family includes the Si551x and Si540x families of NetSync clock IC devices, which work with Skyworks’ AccuTime IEEE 1588 software. Each product family is tailored to suit the requirements of different equipment in 5G fronthaul networks, allowing mobile operators and equipment vendors to choose the solution that best fits their 5G network synchronisation needs.

These products offer compliance to all relevant telecomms standards, including ITU-T G.826x/G.827x, IEEE 1588-2008/2019 and O-RAN WG4, ensuring a robust and reliable synchronisation for any 5G network, said Skyworks.

The network synchroniser clocks lead the industry in jitter and phase noise performance, claimed the company, while offering low power consumption. The Si551x / Si540x uses fifth-generation DSPLL and MultiSynth technologies and integrates the functions of a low phase noise 5G / eCPRI wireless jitter attenuator supporting JESD204B / C with a SyncE/IEEE 1588 PTP network synchroniser clock into a single IC device.

Output frequencies are from 0.5Hz (PP2S) up to 3.2GHz and the ICs have up to 18 differential outputs with several formats supported including LVPECL, LVDS, S-LVDS, CML, HCSL, LVCMOS

The level of integration reduces bill of materials, saves on board space, and reduces overall power budget without any compromise to performance, added Skyworks.

The ICs are supported with clock tree design software, ClockBuilder Pro.

Evaluation kits are available. The Si55xx-A-EVB or Si540x-A-EVB can be used to evaluate the NetSync network synchronisers and wireless jitter attenuators.
