Nexperia adds voltage translator devices to logic range

A low-power translator device from Nexperia, now addresses the standard logic shift register market. Nexperia is the former Standard Products division of NXP.

The company claims it has the largest logic portfolio. The 74LVC8T595 expands its translator solutions into the standard logic shift register arena.

Nexperia claims that the 74LVC8T595 is a world’s first – a cascadable eight-bit serial-in, parallel-out I/O expansion device that combines shift register function with voltage translation. This single-chip device replaces two devices, resulting in higher levels of integration and a smaller footprint, confirms Nexperia. The 74LVC8T595 operates in the 1.1 to 5.5V range, enabling low-voltage controllers to interface with legacy solutions.

The 74LVC8T595 benefits from Nexperia’s LVC family technology with IOFF circuitry for partial power down-mode operation, which contributes to energy savings. The device is available in 20-pin leaded TSSOP and leadless DQFN packages. Both packages are specified for -40 to +125°C and can be released in the company’s automotive (-Q100) portfolio.

Nexperia offers the lowest power 5.0, 3.3 and 1.8.V translator devices and it is bringing this capability to its new standard logic voltage translating shift register products. Nexperia’s senior product manager for logic, Michael Lyons said: “These new devices are helping to create a market by enabling voltage-level translation for new low-voltage controllers to interface with legacy solutions and vice versa. Our devices save space and bill of materials (BoM) costs and help to improve system integration and performance.“

Nexperia supplies discretes, logic and MOSFET devices. It became independent at the beginning of 2017 and focuses on efficiency. Nexperia produces 85billion semiconductor components annually. The portfolio meets the stringent standards set by the automotive industry. Industry-leading, miniature packages, produced in its own manufacturing facilities, combine power and thermal efficiency.

Nexperia has 11,000 employees across Asia, Europe and the USA. It has an extensive IP portfolio and is certified to ISO9001, ISO/TS16949, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.
