Nexperia unclips the next round of CFP power diodes

In demand for automotive and industrial applications, clip-bonded FlatPower diodes by Nexperia now include 32 planar Schottky diodes and eight hyperfast recovery rectifiers housed in the CFP15B package.

The Clip-bonded FlatPower (CFP) diodes are available as standard and Q-types that meet AEC-Q101 automotive qualification standards. Nexperia said it is committed to expanding manufacturing capacity and accelerating the transition to smaller, thermally optimised packages as market demands continues to grow.

The operating range for these new planar Schottky diodes is between 30 to 100V and 3.0 to 15A. Versions optimised for low forward voltage (VF), which includes the PMEG100V080ELPE/-Q diode, deliver low conduction losses and high efficiency for cost-efficient DC/DC converters and in reverse polarity protection applications. These diodes are also available in low leakage variants with low reverse current and what is claimed to be best-in-class operating temperature capability, for robust operation against thermal runaway. The eight 200V single-type recovery rectifier devices (the PNE200xxEPE/-Q series) have an average forward current of 4.0 to 10A and complement existing dual type recovery rectifiers also available from Nexperia.

Using the smaller, high power density CFP15B instead of DPAK or SMB/C packages can save up to 60 per cent of board space, while maintaining the same level of electrical performance, said Nexperia. The rugged package design is also claimed to enable longer operating times and better board level reliability. Its optimised lead form ensures uniform solder joints for improved automated optical inspection (AOI).

The diodes are beneficial for ADAS, EV, LED lighting or ECU applications which rely on high-density designs, added the company.

The company said it offers engineers one of the most extensive CFP packaged diodes portfolios on the market from one supplier.

Nexperia specialises in the high volume production of essential semiconductors, components, with an extensive portfolio which includes diodes, bipolar transistors, ESD protection devices, MOSFETs, GaN FETs and analogue and logic ICs.

Headquartered in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, Nexperia is a subsidiary of Wingtech Technology, has an extensive IP portfolio and is certified to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
