OEM control and user plane correlation software verifies mobile traffic flows
Networking, IP traffic management and cybersecurity vendors can access real-time subscriber- and session-level traffic visibility across 3G, 4G and 5G NSA (non standalone access) networks with the R&S GSRM software module.
Developed by ipoque, a Rohde & Schwarz company, the OEM software module is for the correlation of control and user plane within the core of mobile networks to resolve data traffic per subscriber. Subscriber-level traffic visibility empowers vendors of network packet brokers and IP probes to add session-aware traffic aggregation, filtering and load balancing capabilities. Policy control, cybersecurity and IP traffic management can also benefit from mobile subscriber awareness, which can be easily integrated as OEM software, says Rohde & Schwarz.
There are multiple millions of GPRS tunnelling protocol (GTP) sessions running concurrently across mobile networks, making GTP session correlation — i.e., correlation of user plane and data plane traffic — essential for mobile subscriber awareness. Unless IP probes, network packet brokers and other network monitoring and management tools are designed to perform GTP session correlation, they are limited in their capacity to analyse subscriber sessions and are constrained by bandwidth and throughput limitations.
Networking, IP traffic management and cybersecurity tools with full subscriber awareness enable communication service providers to optimise network performance and assure superior quality of experience for subscribers across 3G, 4G and 5G NSA networks.
Embedding the linearly scalable R&S GSRM enables network equipment vendors to maintain subscriber experience and network security despite the rapid growth of IP traffic rates, confirms Rohde & Schwarz.
R&S GSRM is claimed to be the only control and user plane correlation software module that can be integrated directly into end solutions without vendor lock-ins. The module has no external dependencies except running on Intel architectures, is easy to integrate and comes with well-documented APIs and flexible SLAs. By combining R&S GSRM with the OEM deep packet inspection software, R&S PACE 2, networking, IP traffic management and cybersecurity vendors can achieve real-time application awareness as well as subscriber awareness, Rohde & Schwarz advises.
