OpenVPX boards from Acromag support up to 32Bbyte memory
Two VPX boards designed for COTS applications have been announced by Acromag. The VPX6600 and VPX6860 are rugged boards which are military-ready, says the company.
The AcroExpress 3U and 6U single board computer (SBC) modules can support one or two DDR4 error correction code (ECC) small outline, dual inline memory modules (SODIMMs), for a total of up to 32Gbyte of removable memory. The SODIMMs are firmly attached to the module with screws and surrounded by heat sink material to provide a mechanically and thermally robust mechanism, added the company. Extended temperature models are available for operating at -40 to +85 degrees C.
The 3U VPX6600 is based on a 6th Generation Intel Xeon CPU and is available as a conduction cooled option.
The 6U VPX6860 is based on an Intel Xeon E3 CPU and includes AcroPack and XMC I/O slot. It includes up to 32Gbyte DDR4 ECC RAM and has dual 40GbE ports. It supports an XMC mezzanine module, with up to a x8 Gen3 PCIe interface. An optional rear-transition module is available to provide easy access to all of the P2 connector’s I/O signals.
Each 3U and 6U carrier board can be populated with any combination of analogue I/O, digital I/O, communication and AcroPack modules for a modular system assembly.
Modularity allows the user to create a board which is customised to the application, explained Acromag, which saves money and space; a single carrier board populated with AP modules may replace several dedicated function VPX boards.
