Oscillator pair adds programmability to high-speed interfaces
Two programmable oscillators (P-SPXOs) from Epson, the SG-8503 and SG-8504, bring the convenience of programmable oscillator technology to high-speed interfaces, claims the company.
The P-SPXOs have a supply voltage of 2.5 to 3.3V and a wide frequency range from 50 up to 800MHZ and operate in the extended temperature range of -40 to +105 degree C. They offer standard SPXO stability of ±50ppm including aging, adds Epson.
The low jitter LVPECL has a maximum power consumption of less than 90mA maximum.
The SG-8503 and SG-8504 use a sigma delta fractional-n PLL to achieve very low jitter of 0.3 pico seconds RMS (12kHz to 20MHz). Frequencies are set using one time programming (OTP). The user can select from two or four frequencies with one or two pins.
Epson’s SG-8503 and SG-8504 oscillators can be ordered with 24-hour turnaround from distributors or you can program your own lab using Epson’s SG-Writer II and blanks. Accompanying software can be downloaded from Epson’s website.
