Package enhances mechanical flexibility for crystal oscillator

Advanced package geometry enhances mechanical flexibility in the low power, low voltage quartz crystal available from Micro Crystal.

The CM9V-T1A 0.3 is the next step in miniaturisation, says the company. The 32.768kHz quartz crystal has a maximum thickness of 0.35mm and a footprint of just 1.6 x 1.0mm

This tiny geometry enhances the circuitry in applications where bending radii are critical, says Micro Crystal. It complements the bendable thin film batteries from Renata and can be used in smart cards, e-textiles, wearables and activity bands, embedded modules and healthcare applications, such as an e-medicine treatment sticking plaster.

The CM9V-T1A 0.3 crystal is available now and joins Micro Crystal’s CM8V-T1A 0.3 crystal which also operates at 32.768kHz and measures 2.0 x 0.3mm and which is in full production.

Micro Crystal is based in Grenchen, Switzerland. It designs, manufactures and sells worldwide quartz crystals, oscillators, OCXOs and real-time clocks for the electronics industry. The company employs approximately 500 people globally and has high-volume manufacturing facilities in Thailand and Switzerland. Micro Crystal’s sales offices in Europe, Asia, Japan, Korea and North America offer customers technical support.
