Panasonic Industry Europe adds smaller ZS-Series capacitor
Panasonic Industry Europe has expanded its conductive polymer hybrid capacitors surface mount portfolio with a smaller size ZS-Series. The new capacitor extends the capacitance range and doubles ripple current capability, but is also rated at 4,000 hours endurance at +125 degrees C, says the company. While the ZS-Series brings new case sizes, it keeps the same 10mm diameter footprint but introduces a new length of 12mm to join the existing 10 x 16mm model.
The ZS-Series was developed for use in the automotive sector and ranges from 25 to 63V. Capacitance range covers 560 microF, an ESR is lower than earlier model, down to 11 mOhm with ripple current of 4.0A rms. The design saves space, and the lower ESR and higher ripple enhance filter and DC-link circuits in automotive control and powertrain applications. Hybrid conductive polymer capacitors can be used to replace difficult-to-source and soon-to-be-phased out larger MLCCs, for constrained space or tantalums in higher frequency circuits. All the ZS-Series devices are RoHS- and REACH-compliant and also AECQ-200-compliant.
According to Yusuke Nagata, product marketing manager, Panasonic “At the 63V line level, ZS-Series with case size 10 x 12.5mm offers a 100 microF capacitor,” adding that this is one of the highest capacitance values available in this class.
