Pickering Interfaces to launch 8GHz solid state PXI RF switches at EuMW 2018

Modular signal switching and simulation specialist, Pickering Interfaces, will introduce PXI solid state RF switches at the show in Spain, later this month.

There are 13 models in the family of PXI 8GHz solid-state RF switches, including SPDT, SP4T, SP6T, SP8T, SP16T and 4×4 matrix devices. The company’s 40-88xA switch family now covers 10MHz to 8GHz in the modular PXI format. All feature automatic termination of unused switch channels, up to +36dBm input power handling and what the company describes as ‘excellent RF performance characteristics’.

Pickering Interfaces will also highlight its series 60-801 and 60-802 four and six channel LXI Ethernet microwave multiplexers at European Microwave. The microwave switches are packaged in compact 1U and 2U rack-mount form factors. They are available with up to 16 relays in six, 18, 26.5 or 40GHz bandwidths. The RF and repeatability characteristics are simply-controlled via the 1000Base-T Ethernet interface.

Visitors to the Pickering Interfaces’ booth will also see the USB/LXI chassis, the 60-104 two-slot chassis and 60-105 four-slot chassis. These offer a small, lightweight form factor for portable, benchtop and other space restricted applications. Both models are controlled remotely via USB3 or 1000-BaseT Ethernet, allowing switching to be sited close to the device under test, to minimise cable lengths and preserving RF performance. The 60-105 chassis will be shown containing three SP4T and three SP6T 26.5GHz switches, to demonstrate the modular chassis’ flexibility when used in conjunction with Pickering’s range of PXI RF/microwave switch modules.

The larger 60-103B LXI 18-slot rack-mount chassis will showcase a variety of the company’s PXI RF and microwave switch modules, from 300MHz to 65GHz, including several terminated switches, where unused channels are automatically terminated in 50 Ohm for more consistent RF performance. Many of the microwave switches have LEDs on the front panels to show the energised switch paths, which is useful when debugging test programs.

Visit Pickering Interfaces at booth 280, European Microwave (25 to 27 September 2018) at the Feria de Madrid, Madrid, Spain.
