Powell Electronics offers Glenair’s aerospace fibre optic connectors

Glenair’s range of MIL-DTL-38999 Series III Type fibre optic connectors are now available from Powell Electronics. The Series III connectors are designed to meet tight-tolerance aerospace restrictions.

The range includes qualified size 16 MIL-PRF-29504 precision ceramic termini, large core and jewel size 16 termini as well as size 20 termini. The connectors are suitable for rugged aerospace applications which require tight tolerance optical termini alignment, high levels of connector reliability, rugged environmental and mechanical performance and low dB insertion loss, said the specialist distributor.

Glenair’s MIL-DTL-38999 type tight tolerance fibre optic connection system is available in metal and composite versions and features qualified MIL-PRF-29504/4 sockets and MIL-PRF-29504/5 pin termini for size 16 cavity insert arrangements.

All components are completely manufactured in-house at Glenair. The company also manufactures tight-tolerance M38999 fibre optic connectors, low dB loss QPL M29504/04 (pin) and QPL M29504/05 (socket) termini for both single and multi-mode applications, as well as a complete range of assembly tools and other accessory components.

Powell Electronics is a specialist in high reliability, harsh environment connector design, manufacturing and supply chain. In the USA, Powell has 70,000 square feet of connector manufacturing capabilities at its Swedesboro, New Jersey facility, which is certified to ISO9001 and AS9100.
