Powell Electronics signs distribution agreement with Positronic

Aiming to become Europe’s largest stocking distributor of Positronic connectors, Powell Electronics has signed a franchise deal with the power and signal connector manufacturer.

Following a $2.5million investment in a European warehouse and headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, Powell Electronics, supplies connectors and other products for hi-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial markets. It has invested £2.5m in new European warehouse and headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, and says it is to become Europe’s largest stocking distributor of Positronic connectors.

Positronic serves industries around the world, from medical to deep space, where failure is not an option for critical systems. Examples of the company’s range of versatile high-performance connectors include the versatile, modular Scorpion family of power/signal connectors and the Combo D-sub-miniature families which offer a mixture of power and signal contacts in standard and high-density variations.

Anita Warner, Positronic’s global director of sales, welcomed Powell to its European network. “We are sure that we can build on our successful relationship in the USA, and are excited that Powell will be offering such large and wide stocks of our parts in Europe,” she said.

Powell Electronics’ European MD, Gary Evans, said: “We are delighted to add Positronic to our growing franchise base, seeking out new business opportunities for Europe’s diverse customer base.”

Powell Electronics specialises in high reliability, harsh environment connector design, manufacturing and supply chain. In the USA, Powell has 70,000 square feet of connector manufacturing capabilities at its Swedesboro, New Jersey facility, which is certified to ISO9001 and AS9100.

Powell offers automated engineering solutions and connector ODM services. The company is an authorised, QPL’ed distributor for over 50 military specifications and is ISO9120-certified.

This year, Powell Electronics relocated its European operations from the Netherlands to Dublin, Ireland. It employs technical staff to support design-in activities and has signed new franchises agreements with Glenair, Harwin, Amphenol Aerospace, Quell, AB Connectors, Lemo and Conesys. Powell addresses the broad range of demanding connector applications with products that range from miniature PCB-mount devices to high voltage, high current hi-rel solutions.
