Powell Electronics stocks micro-D sub-miniature connectors from Glenair
Glenair’s family of TwistPin-equipped micro-D sub-miniature connectors is now available from Powell Electronics. The company serves high-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial.
The Glenair micro-D sub-miniature connectors offer high durability and minimal contact resistance for applications where interconnect failure is not an option, said Powell. They also include high current ratings, low circuit resistance and EMI / RFI shielding.
Glenair’s QPL 83513 Micro-D and COTS connectors feature Glenair’s high-density micro TwistPin contacts set on 0.050 centres in arrangements from nine to 130 contacts.
The special material selection, fabrication and heat treating techniques combined with TwistPin contacts ensure the connectors resist high temperature stress relaxation for up to 1000 hours at 125 degrees C. Available with insulated and uninsulated wire, PCB, solder cup and flex terminations, as QPL or commercial variations, the micro-D devices can be used for interconnect requirements including high temperature and hermetic applications. Space-grade micro-D connectors with NASA and ESA screening options are also available.
The connectors are manufactured in the UK for short lead times in Europe as well as in the USA. In the UK Glenair also designs Micro-D connectors.
Powell Electronics is a specialist at high reliability, harsh environment connector design, manufacturing and supply chain. In the USA, Powell has 70,000 square feet of connector manufacturing capabilities at its Swedesboro, NJ facility, which is certified to ISO9001 and AS9100. Powell offers automated engineering solutions and connector ODM services. The company is an authorized, QPL’ed distributor for over 50 military specifications and is ISO9120 certified.
The company’s European headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland. The company has recently signed franchise agreements with Glenair, Harwin, Amphenol Aerospace, Quell, AB Connectors, Lemo, Conesys and Positronic.
Powell says it addresses the broad range of demanding connector applications with products that range from miniature PCB-mount devices to high voltage, high current hi-rel solutions.
