Powerstax adds Magna-Power programmable power supplies

The next generation of programmable DC power supplies from Magna-Power are now available from Powerstax. The 1.5 to 8.0kW 1U SL series offers up to 95 per cent efficiency. The upgraded SL series also carries a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) safety listing, meeting the relevant electrical safety standards testing requirements set forth by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

There are 99 models in the SL series, combining the latest power semiconductor technology with Magna-Power’s robust current-fed power processing topology to deliver 1U programmable power levels from 1.5 to 8.0kW.

The SL series provides the performance and functionality to address applications as diverse as aerospace test and measurement, automotive component testing, particle acceleration, semiconductor fabrication and component test, industrial and renewable energy, as well as general laboratory research and development.

The upgraded SL series provides energy savings for automated test equipment (ATE) product validation and burn-in, as well as reduced enclosure cooling requirements, explains Powerstax. The internal cooling layout allows air flow only across heatsinks not across sensitive electronics, via side air intakes with rear exhaust. The combination of layout and efficiency gains have allowed the product line to be expanded to higher power levels than is conventionally offered in a 1U package, while still maintaining its continuous full power operation at 50 degrees C maximum ambient operating temperature, explains Powerstax.

The SL series carries the CE Mark and is rated by Intertek to conform to UL61010-1:2012 Ed.3+R:29Apr2016 and certified to meet CSA C22.2#61010-1-12:2012 Ed.3. The SL Series Gen 2 is also released with all new HTML-based user documentation.

Powerstax designs and manufactures a range of standard, value-added and custom AC and DC power solutions for a broad range of fixed and mobile applications including hot-swap, front end AC/DC bulk power, DC/DC converter bricks and modules and programmable, modular, rack mounted power supplies. The high voltage DC power capability extends up to 350kV for industrial processes, capacitor chargers and electron beam power systems.

The Powerstax Drake range of transformer rectifiers offers output currents to 5,000A and output power up to 1000kVA. Power products for harsh (marine, offshore, desert) and hazardous (Zone 1 and Zone 2) environments can be oil-, air- or water- cooled and can be sealed up to IP65.

The main markets served by Powerstax include high-end industrial, defence, vehicle and transportation, defence and avionics, impressed current cathodic protection, water treatment, test, measurement and control and medical equipment.
