Provertha launches tamper-proof press-fit connector system

Disadvantages associated with screw-in connectors can be eliminated, said Provertha, with the patented press-fit section in a tamper-proof M12 connector. The design has been patented by the company and is intended for use in industrial automation, especially for encoder housings that are exposed to high vibrations.

The slotted contour of the press-fit section allows “significantly greater” manufacturing tolerances and a more flexible press-fit section in the enclosure, explained Provertha. Customers can configure the 90 degree cable outlet in products in such a way that the enclosures or the plug-in connections do not have to be further adapted in the final assembly of encoders or actuators.

The vibration-proof connection is superior to screw connections, especially in the case of high vibration, claimed the company. It cannot be manipulated by the end customer and is resistant to traction to ensure high retention forces in the customer’s enclosure in a compact design.

The M12 connector system has established itself as a reliable, robust connection for fieldbus, sensor and Ethernet connections.

Provertha says this new connector supports safe use and also the trend towards customisation. The customer can choose the direction of the cable outlet and align the connector; the connector’s press-fit flange offers a high degree of reliability during mounting. The position of the coding is marked on the flange with an indentation so that the orientation can be clearly identified when pressing in or attaching the cables.

Provertha Connectors, Cables & Solutions is a privately-owned business founded in Pforzheim, Germany, in 1981. It has four locations in Germany and Hungary and customers from 45 countries operating in the automotive, aerospace, healthcare, and electronics markets. There is also a network of distribution partners.
