QSFP-DD connector caters for data networking

Yamaichi Electronics expands its high-speed connector product portfolio with a QSFP-DD small form factor connector for 400Gbit data networking applications and cage assembly mechanical parts.

QSFP-DD is a new, small form factors, standardised by QSFP-DD MSA. It is similar to the current QSFP, but has additional contact rows inside the structure design to realise double density by eight channels for electrical signal transmission.

Yamaichi explains that its mechanical design is QSFP-DD MSA- compliant and also backward-compatible with the current QSFP.

The design structure and electrical performance of the Yamaichi QSFP-DD connector allows it to targert 200G and 400G technologies and to support 28Gbits per second per channel NRZ, and 56Gbits per second per channel PAM4 modulation. The signal integrity takes into consideration 112Gbits per second per channel PAM4 modulation.

Yamaichi Electronics describes this connector as suitable for the next generation of data networking market applications. The single-type connector together with the mechanical assembly kit are available now, with a multiport-type connector to be introduced soon.

A stacked QSFP-DD will be available later during 2019.

Yamaichi Electronics supplies test and burn-in sockets, connectors and connection systems for demanding applications in semiconductor, industrial automation, automotive, data networking, measurement and testing, medical, mobile computing and embedded computing.
