RadioCarbon RF front end is available from Richardson RFPD with development kit

Available with full design support capabilities, the RadioCarbon standalone RF front end is available from Richardson RFPD.

RadioCarbon is designed to dramatically accelerate design efforts, including proof-of-concept, prototyping and evaluations. Wolfspeed’s GaN on SiC technology provides an efficient and robust transmit channel, said the company.

When paired with the BytePipe software defined radio system on module (SDR SoM) by NextGen RF Design, it becomes a development kit, said Richardson RFPD. The development kit includes Analog Devices’ ADRV9002 integrated RF transceiver which has dual channel transmitters and dual channel receivers, integrated synthesizers and DSP (digital signal processing) functions.

RadioCarbon can accommodate multiple use cases. The standalone RF front end is suitable for integrating a separate radio with digital pre-distortion. The SDR development kit pairs the RF front end with a radio module for a complete SDR with high power transmitter and digital pre-distortion (DPD).

The development kit includes functional hardware to quickly prove concepts and develop waveforms, together with licensable design files that customers can reuse for product implementation. Richardson RFPD pointed out that a particular benefit is that third party support is also available in order to create a customised module.

Richardson RFPD is an Arrow Electronics company, specialising in the RF, wireless, IoT and power technologies markets. It has relationships with many of the industry’s top radio frequency and power component suppliers and provides support for customers, from designing components to engineering complete solutions via worldwide design centers and technical sales team which provide comprehensive support for customers’ go-to-market strategy, from prototype to production.
