Real-time clock claims lowest power consumption
According to Micro Crystal, the RV-3028-C7 is the first low power real time clock (RTC) module that requires just 40nA at a supply of 3.0V.
The high accuracy of ±1 ppm at room temperature eliminates any calibration during manufacturing. The package measures just 3.5 x 1.5 x 0.8mm and combines the 32.768kHz quartz crystal with the RTC circuit. It offers an integrated battery back up switch. The low power consumption allows using MLCC capacitors to cover the back up time. Together with an event detection input it features all the prerequisites for wearables, medical healthcare and power sensitive IoT applications.
The real time clock includes a 32-bit Unix time counter e.g. for security code.
