Recom delivers RPX miniature buck converters for industrial automation

Recom has added a 4.0A option to its RPX series of miniature buck converters.  The RPX-4.0 series are cost-effective buck converters are delivered in a thermally enhanced QFN package.

The RPX-4.0 is rated to 3.8 to 36V input and programmable 1.0 to 7V output at 4.0A. It is in a compact 5.0 x 5.5mm footprint and a low height of 4.1mm height. The buck module pushes the limit on power density. The miniature buck converters have on-off control, a power good signal, and soft start, and is fully protected including under-voltage, short-circuit, over-current, and over-temperature.

The RPX-4.0 allows full power operation up to 65 degrees C and derated operation up to 90 degrees C. The package construction follows the Recom 3D Power Packaging technology for high power density, with flip-chip on leadframe construction and an integrated shielded inductor for low EMI. There is also intelligent control of switching frequency to maintain high efficiency even at light load.

The RPX-4.0 needs just voltage setting resistors and input/output capacitors and is covered by the company’s three-year warranty.

Recom also offers an evaluation board, the RPX-4.0-EVM-1. It allows customers to exercise all of the product features and optimise filtering to meet target system requirements.

The RPX series of buck converters can be used in industrial automation, test and measurement, portable devices, and high density or weight-sensitive applications.

Recom manufactures a full range of standard and customised DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class from sub-1W to tens of kW, alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a wide selection of formats.

The company’s headquarters are located in Gmunden, Austria. It has a research and development centre, laboratory wing and logistics centre which is supported by a worldwide distribution network.
