Recom expands non-isolated DC/DC range in DOSA-compatible LGA

Non-isolated DC/DC regulators available from Recom in surface mount, LGA packages now include regulators with inputs up to 36V, as the company launches its RPMB-3.0 range. The 3.0A non-isolated DC/DC regulators are offered in a DOSA-compatible LGA package with adjustable output from 1.0 to 24V and input voltage up to 36V.

The introduction expands Recom’s range of compact, non-isolated DC/DC regulators in its standard 12.19 x 12.19 x 3.75mm (0.5 x 0.5 x 0.15 inches) DOSA-compatible, thermally-enhanced LGA package. Pre-set outputs available are 3.3V (trimmable 1.0 to 9.0V), 5.0V (trimmable 1.0 to 9.0V), 12V (trimmable 9.0 to 24V) or 15V (trimmable 9.0 to 24V). All variants operate up to 36V input with a low dropout voltage of 500mV or less.

All parts operate to 100 degrees C ambient with some load derating but without the need for forced air cooling, advises Recom. The efficiency is up to 94 per cent allowing the full output current of 3.0A across the input voltage range.  A low quiescent current of 30 microA (for the 3.3V version), makes the devices in the RPMB-3.0 family suitable for applications that have sleep modes such as microcontrollers and transceivers. The parts also feature six-sided shielding for low radiated EMI and thermal management.

Protection features include under-voltage, short circuit, over-current and over-temperature protection, and the ability to drive high capacitive loads up to 0.2F. Power sequencing, soft start, on/off control, remote sensing and a power good signal are also provided.

An evaluation board, the RPMB-3.0-EVM-1 is also available. This allows all of the features to be tested with component positions provided to enable filter networks to be developed for compliance with Class B conducted EMI levels.

The RPMBxx3.0 enables users to drop 24V directly to voltages as low as 1.0V to power sensors, displays and wireless modules such as GPRS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-mesh, says Recom.

Samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.
