Regulated high voltage DC/DC converters cater for high integration

For analytical, semiconductor and detector applications, the HRC05 series of 5W regulated high voltage DC/DC converters provide an adjustable and reliable output voltage up to 6kV DC in a small package, says XP Power.

They also have low line and load regulation (up to 0.01 per cent) and ripple performance of less than 0.01 per cent for accurate and reliable high voltage for long term applications, says the company. All models are approved to IEC/ UL/ CSA/ EN 62368-1, 61010-1 standards and are UKCA and CE marked to applicable directives and legislation for use worldwide.

The HRC05 has a nominal 24V DC input voltage with an operating range from 22 to 30V DC. There are 18 models available with positive or negative DC outputs ranging from 0V to 350V and up to 0V to 6,000V. The output voltage can be adjusted from 0 to 100 per cent with the on-board 0 to +5V DC reference input for easy high voltage integration and control. Voltage and current monitor outputs are also included in the standard package.

The PCB-mount, convection-cooled units measure just 65 x 33 x 14mm. The DC/DC converters are housed in a UL94V-0 rated encapsulation material and a five-sided metal case that is internally grounded. According to XP Power, this offers optimal mechanical integration and is robust while saving space. The operating temperature range is -40 to +70 degrees C with no current derating over the range. Stability is 100ppm over eight hours (after a 30-minute warm-up).

DC/DC converters in the HRC05 series feature short circuit, arc, overload, and over-temperature protection circuitry and remote on/off to ensure the safety of both the device and the application in which it is installed. The converters can be used for a range of specialist applications in the lab, including mass spectrometry, electrophoresis, electrostatic chuck, detectors, capacitor charging, scanning electron microscopes (SEMs), imaging, and diagnostics equipment.

The HRC05 series is available from Digi-Key, Farnell, Mouser, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power. Devices are covered with a three-year warranty.
