RFI filters from Schaffner meet RFI attenuation demands

RFI filters from Schaffner have an IEC C14 power entry module (PEM) with integrated fuse holder or switch.

The high-performance filter series FN 9262 (with fuse holder) and FN 9266 (with dual pole switch) have been developed for applications demanding high RFI attenuation performance. They join Schaffner’s FN 9260 and FN 9264 filter families.

A key application is the medical market, confirms Schaffner. The FN 9262 B and FN 9266 B (B-types) filters meet the insulation requirements according to IEC 60601-1 1MOPP (one means of patient protection).

Both filter series outperform the FN 9260 and FN 9264 filters over the whole frequency range. Schaffner credits this performance increase to the advanced core material (common mode performance) and the increased X-capacitor values (differential mode performance).

The housing dimensions are identical to the existing series so that the filters can be simply exchanged. In addition, the PEMs are mechanically compatible with almost all similar style products in the market and the same as the FN 9260 and FN 9264.

The complete family consists of the FN9260, FN9262, FN9264 and FN9266 filters, covering applications in medical devices and appliances for household, audio and video.

The filters have all the required safety approvals (UL 60939-3, CSA C22.2 No. 8, IEC 60939-3 and CQC), they carry a CE mark and are compatible with the RoHS II (2015/863) directive.

The Schaffner Group’s portfolio includes EMC filters, power magnetic components, power quality filters and the related services. For the automotive industry, Schaffner develops and manufactures antennae used in keyless entry systems and filters for hybrid and electric vehicles and their charging infrastructure. Schaffner components are deployed in electronic motor controls, in wind power and photovoltaic systems, rail technology applications, machine tools and robots, electrical infrastructure, and in power supplies for electronic devices.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Schaffner serves its customers through its engineering and manufacturing centres in Asia, Europe and North America.
