RFID UHF tags are designed to be inserted into textiles

Small RFID UHF RAIN transponders designed to be discretely inserted into small pieces of clothing to prevent losses and laundry confusion. The LinTRAK XS is a small RFID (radio frequency identification) ultra-high frequency (UHF) tag which can be inserted or attached to small textile products and personal clothing to track them around a multi-occupancy dwelling. It is intended to be used in nursing homes and care facilities to track the residents’ clothing.

The tag measures just 30 x 10mm and is a soft and thin polyester label which complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Level 1. The tag’s small dimensions allow LinTRAK XS to be easily sewn directly on the product, in a hem, or fixed under a thermo-adhesive patch. It is constructed with Impinj’s Monza M730 IC and provides “exceptional mechanical resistance and read performance” in high-density environments where several tagged items are densely packed together, says HID Global.

The LinTRAK XS tag can be used with HID Global’s RFID hardware infrastructure and cloud linen management software for a linen and garment track-and-trace system to reduce garment losses. Apart from the economic and efficiency implications in hotel laundry systems, in care homes, losing clothes can be a source of distress for elderly residents. The tags are washable and can be dry cleaned.

The HID LinTRAK portfolio includes five RFID UHF tags which identify, track and manage laundry and textile assets efficiently through their lifecycles in hospitality, healthcare and other commercial industries. Special features include a heat-sealing capability, usability in all types of magnetic resonance imaging systems and reel form factor to enable source-tagging during the linen manufacturing process.

The LinTRAK XS UHF RFID tags are available now.
