Richardson RFPD adds BC118 AirPrime Bluetooth module
Designed for simple, reliable, low energy data transmission, the BC118 from Sierra Wireless is now available from Richardson RFPD.
The distributor offers full design support capabilities for the Bluetooth module. The BC118 certified Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 4.1 module with integrated antenna is suitable for quickly and cost-effectively adding simple, reliable low-energy data communication. The BC118 connects prosumer and industrial applications requiring data-only connections for simple sensor-to-phone or cable replacement applications.
The BC118 features an embedded Bluetooth stack with simple UART interface, full regulatory certifications to speed time-to-market, and industrial-grade robustness for harsh environments and extreme temperatures. It operates in the 2.4GHz frequency band and has a maximum data rate of 270kbit per second (typical 60kbit per second). Operating range is up to 30m.
The BC118 has an RF sensitivity of 0.1 per cent bit error rate (BER) at -92.5dBm.
