RMOD500-W DC/DC converter takes e-mobility off-road
A series of compact 500W DC/DC converters by Recom, the RMOD500-W range are for off-highway e-mobility applications. They are capable of delivering 500W output and are fully-enclosed, chassis-mounted modules, available with IP67 rating.
They feature an input range of 32 to 96V and are suitable for nominal 48V, 60V, 72V and 80V battery supplies. Output options are 13.7V, 13V, 12.4V, 11.7V, 24.5V and 23.5V. Parts may be paralleled for higher power, advised Recom. Certified isolation rating is to 2.25kV DC and ambient operating temperature range is from -40 to +90 degrees C.
For safety, the DC/DC converters have input under-voltage and reverse polarity, over-temperature and output over-current and over-voltage protection. Parts have been fully qualified for EMC, shock/vibration, thermal shock / temperature cycling, salt mist, water / dust ingress and safety.
The RMOD500-W measures 198 x 113 x 45mm including connectors and is designed for baseplate cooling. It is sealed offering water- and dust-proofing, including connectors, enabling it to be fitted in any unprotected area of a vehicle, advised Recom.
“With the move to ‘greener’ transport solutions, this new series of e-mobility DC/DCs is ideal for many applications” commented Recom’s Marco Kuhn. He said they can be used “to generate an isolated power rail for auxiliary functions in electric vehicles in application areas such as material handling, construction, sports venues, and in industry generally”.
Samples of the RMOD range are available directly from Recom.
Recom manufactures a range of standard and customised DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class from sub-1W to tens of kW, alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a wide selection of formats.
