Rosenberger magnetic connectors make USB more secure, says RS Components

RS Components offers Rosenberger magnetic, self-locating connectors. The distributor claims that they deliver easier and safer USB connectivity in tight spaces or where the potential for unintended disconnection risks damaging equipment.

Rosenberger magnetic self-locating connectors are now in stock at RS Components, in USB Type-A, Type-B, Micro-B and Mini-B form factors. The range comprises connector plugs, sockets, and cable assemblies and allows users to introduce a magnetic element at either end of any connection. According to RS Components, advantages include zero-force mating and extended cycle life, self-location with accurate alignment even in locations that are difficult to reach or hard to see, and wrench-free tear-away that protects equipment against damage in the event of unintended disconnection. Magnetic USB connections are also waterproof and UV resistant, adds RS.

The connectors feature built-in misconnect prevention, and have reliable, corrosion-resistant gold-plated contacts. The contacts are also easy to clean, ensuring outstanding long-term performance even in challenging environments.

Rosenberger magnetic connectors are suitable for all USB2.0 applications, and include a USB-A male to female adapter, Micro-B adapters, and male/female USB-A to Micro-B cable assemblies in one metre lengths and white or black colour options. A 1.5m USB-A male to magnetic circular five-pin male cable assembly, and compatible magnetic circular five-pin connector accessories are also available.
