Rotary encoder is sealed to protect against ingress

Shaft sealing is a design feature for the Model PAC18R absolute rotary encoder from Bourns. The encoder has an IP64 shaft seal rating for enhanced IP (Ingress Protection) level and a superior rotational feel, says the company.

The PAC18R is designed for use in applications where a sealed menu select absolute encoder is required, for example in professional audio and lighting applications, low to medium risk medical and diagnostic equipment, and industrial automation controls.

The low profile absolute encoder family has a 30,000 rotational cycle rating and an extended -35 to +70 degree C operating temperature range. The Model PAC18R series also offers high contact and insulation resistance values from the encoder’s insulated plastic shaft and bushing as well as a haptic detent feedback option.

The Bourns® Model PAC18R Series is RoHS-compliant and is available now.

Bourns is a manufacturer and supplier of position and speed sensors, circuit protection solutions, magnetic components, microelectronic modules, panel controls and resistive products.
