RS Components adds Amphenol’s portfolio for HEVs and EVs

RS Components introduces high-power connectivity devices from Amphenol for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

The high power connectors from Amphenol are designed to for safe and reliable servicing of EVs. The MSD series of receptacles and plugs offers a tool-free solution for disconnecting an internal high-voltage battery pack and delivering short-circuit protection. A two-stage lever system opens the high-voltage interlock (HVIL) circuit before contact separation. All high-voltage conducting surfaces on the receptacles are touch-proof to IP2XB, adds RS Components.

The distributor also offers Amphenol’s Excel-Mate HVSL (high voltage safety lock) series of plugs and receptacles, designed for a variety of electric vehicle applications including power and signal interconnect. Integrating the company’s RADSOK contact technology, one- to three-way devices are available with key electrical characteristics including rated voltage up to 1kV and a current handling range from 23 to 350A.

A third series for EV applications is the Excel-Mate HVPT series. According to RS Components, this provides a reliable and economical high-voltage pass-through connection. Designed with plastic housing and a cable gland, the lightweight series meets IP67, 360 degree shielding, rating to 1000V DC, and includes devices offering one-, two and three-way connections. Multiple coding positions are also available.

Finally, there is the Excel-Mate CCS Combo, which meets IEC62196-3 and enables the charging of EVs with AC or DC power. The Combo plug includes two DC power contacts to deliver exceptionally fast charging in public areas. Both the CCS Combo inlet and the plug are equipped with a temperature sensor and a coloured LED to monitor charging status and temperature. The Combo is available in 60, 125 and 200A options in any required cable length.

The Amphenol high-voltage connectivity devices for electric vehicles are now shipping from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.

RS Components offers more than 500,000 industrial and electronic products, sourced from over 2,500 leading suppliers, and operates in 32 countries.
