RS Components adds smart connector versions from Bulgin

Distributor, RS Components (RS), has announced availability of a programmable version of Bulgin’s 4000 series of environmentally-sealed circular connectors.

The 4000 series of miniature connectors are rated to meet different levels of prevention against dust and water ingress, including the IP66, IP67, IP68 and IP69K standards. They are designed for use in data monitoring applications located in harsh external environments, such as agricultural monitoring systems, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in the subsea sector for the oil and gas industry; automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR) cameras or to connect pumps, lights, cables and control modules in water-based displays.

Bulgin has added smart programmability to the 4000 series with the use of an embedded EEPROM chip to connect, for example, a central station in a remote data-monitoring application to a sensor. The smart connector is not designed to read data output from the sensor, but to enable engineers or technicians to quickly identify issues such as an incorrect connection to a sensor.

The 4000 series offers compact and versatile 19.1mm diameter circular connectors and its robust construction is made from UL94V0-rated flame-retardant materials, with a quick-turn bayonet coupling mechanism for secure connection.

The 4000 series is capable of carrying a variety of voltages and currents and includes four-, six- and eight-pole devices with 5A, 125V ratings or 10 and 12-pole units with 1A, 50V ratings.
