RS Components introduces power semiconductors from Power Integrations

Distributor RS Components announces availability of two new ranges of power semiconductors from Power Integrations.

The LinkSwitch-TN2 family of offline switcher ICs and the HiperPFS-4 family of power factor correction ICs deliver energy efficiency and have integrated protection features.

The LinkSwitch-TN2 AC/DC converters offer load and line regulation and deliver high flexibility with support for buck, boost and flyback topologies. They are particularly suitable for engineers designing non-isolated offline switching power supplies for a markets such as appliances, metering and smart LED drivers, IoT and home and building automation applications.

LinkSwitch-TN2 ICs offer a selectable device current limit and have protection features such as auto-restart for short-circuit and open loop faults, which limits power delivery to three per cent of maximum. There is also output over-voltage protection (OVP), input over-voltage protection and over-temperature protection (OTP).

The HiperPFS-4 family of PFC controller chips is optimised for a high power factor and high efficiency across various load ranges, says RS Components. The devices eliminate the need for external current-sense resistors and their associated power loss. A 600V-rated MOSFET delivers a very small PFC stage form factor.

The controllers are suitable for high-power adapters and high-power LED lighting, as well as consumer and computing devices. They have greater than 95 per cent efficiency from 10 to 100 per cent load, less than 60mW no-load consumption at 230V AC and a power factor of greater than 0.95, achievable at 20 per cent load. The HiperPFS-4 family also complies to EN61000-3-2 Class C and D. Protection features include over-voltage, under-voltage lockout, over-temperature protection and cycle-by-cycle current and power limits for overload protection.

The LinkSwitch-TN2 offline switcher ICs and the HiperPFS-4 PFCs are shipping now from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.

RS Components is a trading brand of Electrocomponents. It offers more than 500,000 industrial and electronic products, sourced from 2,500 leading suppliers. It operates in 32 countries, trading through multiple channels and ships around 50,000 parcels a day.
