RS Components stocks Würth Elektronik SMT LIF connectors

Designed for low profile, lightweight connection, the surface mount low insertion force (LIF) connectors from Würth Elektronik are now available from distributor, RS Components.

According to RS, they deliver “excellent cable retention and quick insertion, improving reliability and ease of installation”. The low profile, lightweight connectors offer secure and removable connection in applications requiring connection to small displays such as wearable products.

The SMT LIF connectors are a wire-to-board design which fastens wires to a PCB inside electronic equipment, quickly and reliably. They are designed as counterparts for flat flexible cables (FFC) and are claimed to provide “excellent cable retention even in small sizes”. They are also easy to insert even when using very thin cables and ensure good contact between mating parts, continues RS.

They also have nickel underplating which prevents tin whiskers. The SMT LIF connectors are made using plastic that can withstand high temperatures, resulting in connectors that are also lead-free reflow compatible.

Other features include fixed metal tabs, for secure product positioning on the PCB and phosphor bronze contacts which offer good contact resistance, elasticity, and low wear.

The SMT LIF connectors have a 1.0mm pitch, 125V AC working voltage, and 30 mOhm contact resistance.

RS Components is a trading brand of Electrocomponents, an omni-channel partner for industrial customers and suppliers who are involved in designing, building or maintaining industrial equipment and facilities. The distributor aims to offer customers a choice of product technologies and help to solve problems.

The company stocks over 500,000 industrial and electronic products, sourced from over 2,500 leading suppliers and serves over one million customers. It has operations in 32 countries.
