Rutronik adds Kemet’s film capacitors for harsh environments

The R53B series by Kemet are EMI suppression capacitors made of metallised polypropylene film which operate reliably even at high temperatures (up to 125 degrees C). They also meet UL 94 V-O specifications thanks to an envelope of self-extinguishing resin in the housing.

They are available from distributor, Rutronik. Target applications include capacitive power supplies, three-phase UPS, DC/DC converters, smart metering and micro inverters for solar applications. They are robust, making them suitable for automotive applications like on-board chargers. Rutronik offers the capacitors in tape and reel packaging according to IEC 60286-2.

The R53B series are believed to be the first capacitors based on X2 technology, which combines THB class IIIB, miniaturised dimensions, high capacitance value, and low halogen content. They also meet the requirements for climate class 40/110/56, IEC 60068-1, are AEC-Q200-certified and RoHS-compliant.

The capacitors operate in a range of 0.068 to 20 microF at a recommended DC voltage of less than or equal to 1000V DC and with a rated AC voltage of 350V AC 50/60Hz or a rated DC voltage of 800V DC. The service life of the R53B capacitors is 1,000 hours at an operating temperature range of -40 to +125 degrees C.

The capacitors are 100 per cent screening factory tested at 1900V DC. They have a lead spacing of 15.0 to 37.5mm. They are approved to ENEC, UL, cUL and CQC
