Rutronik bets on Amphenol SurLok Plus as a sure thing for reliable connectors
Offered as an alternative to conventional compression lugs, Amphenol’s SurLok Plus connectors are now available from Rutronik.
They offer high reliability in harsh environments, said the distributor with protection class IP 67, making the series an environmentally sealed version of the original SurLok models. They can be used in harsh, demanding environments, including energy storage, e-mobility, process control and heavy equipment.
SurLok Plus is available in smaller sizes than its predecessor, namely 3.6mm, 5.7mm and 8.0mm. They have a quick-lock and press-to-release design and crimp, screw, and busbar connection options are to industry standards which means that no special torque tools are required and on-site installation is straightforward, said Rutronik.
The connectors are available in red, black and orange and in different mechanical coding options to allow multiple SurLok Plus connectors to be used side by side without the risk of reverse polarity.
Highlighting the 3.6mm connector, Rutronik noted that it is rated 50 to 70A and is available as male or female/rectangular. It can be used in electric and hybrid electric vehicles, rail passenger transport systems, medical technology, battery management systems and energy storage.
