Rutronik offers Snubberless triacs target appliance control

Part of STMicroelectronics’ T-series and available at Rutronik, the T1635T-8I Snubberless 16A triac, is designed for the increasing number of AC loads in appliance control applications.

The triacs are available in a ceramic-insulated TO-220AB package, which meets both immunity and high-commutation needs. According to Rutonik, the T1635T-8I Snubberless 16A triac is cost-effective with a trade-off of surge current versus immunity and commutation. The package is also RoHS (2002/95/EC) -compliant.

The three-quadrant triacs cannot be turned on in the fourth quadrant which suits the needs of applications with inductive loads. All components are snubberless devices, meaning that a resistive/capacitive network is not necessary, provided the datasheet limits are respected, advises Rutronik. The series provides an insulated tab (rated at 2500V rms) and is UL-certified. The devices are intended for circuits where high static and dynamic dV/dt and high dI/ dt can occur.

Target applications include general purpose AC line load switching, home appliance, fan, pump, solenoid, lighting, heaters, inrush current limiting circuits and over-voltage crowbar protection circuits.

Rutronik UK operates as an independent company with a team of qualified employees with a broad experience of the electronics industry. Parent company Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente is a broadline distributor for semiconductors, passive and electromechanical components, storage technologies, displays and boards and wireless products. The distributor targets the automotive, medical, industrial, home appliance, energy and lighting markets. It also offers a range of services, support in product development and design, as well as individual logistics and supply chain management.
