Rutronik presents Vishay’s AEC-Q200 qualified DC-link film capacitor

Distributor Rutronik announced that its portfolio now includes Vishay Intertechnology’s MKP1848Se low profile, DC-link polypropylene film capacitor. It describes the capacitor as the first of its kind to pass the THB (temperature humidity bias) test at 60 degrees C / 93 per cent relative humidity and nominal voltage for 56 days.

The AEC-Q200-qualified device, designed for DC link applications is primarily intended for automotive power electronics applications in humid environments. Its space-saving design, combined with high performance and reliability, mean that it is also suitable for applications in the industrial and renewable energy sectors, said Rutronik.

The MKP1848Se capacitors cover a capacitance range from one to 75 microF and have low ESL and ESR values (from 3.0 mOhm). They are RoHS-compliant and offer a high ripple current capability of up to 27A.

The capacitors are available with rated voltages of 500, 700, 900 and 1,200V DC at +85 degrees C, as well as two-, four- or six-pin versions. Customization is also possible.

The radially wired capacitor is available in 12 standard sizes with low profile heights of 12, 15, 18 and 24mm for space-constrained automotive power electronics applications such as HVAC systems, on-board and inductive battery charging systems as well as DC/DC converters for electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid EVs. It is also suitable for use in industrial environments due to its robustness in applications, said Rutronik. Example applications are uninterruptible power supplies, motor drives, wall chargers or inverters for solar systems and welding applications.
