Siglent expands addressable frequency range with latest RF signal generator

To develop test and optimise complex systems for mobile data traffic in the sub-6GHz, radar and satellite communications (Ku-, K-, Ka-band), Siglent has expanded the frequency range of its signal generator offering with the introduction of the SSG6000A.
It is designed to provide high performance signal quality that meets the stringent requirements of the latest microwave and millimeter wave testing with wide frequency range, “excellent signal spectrum purity, high accuracy, and large power output”. It is not only an ideal local oscillator and clock source, but also a high-performance analogue signal source suitable for applications in R&D and production, said the company.
The SSG6000A signal generator delivers signal purity across a broad frequency range of 100kHz to 40GHz, even at high output power levels, said Signlent. Phase noise is -135dBc per Hz and low sub harmonic signal components are less than -80dBc and low broadband noise is -155dBc. Coupled with frequency and power stability, the SSG6000A can also be used for LO emulation, radar, receiver, ADC or DAC and components testing.
For long term stability there is a standard OCXO reference hardware module inside the signal generator which contributes to high precision and high stability signal output. High output power of +22dBm can test high-power devices more accurately and stably without an external amplifier, and overcome the loss of the test system. The combination of high output power, low harmonics and standard step attenuation is suitable for characterising broadband microwave components such as filters and amplifiers, advised Siglent.
The SSG6000A supports AM and pulse modulation, pulse sequence generator and power meter control. Pulse modulation on/off ratio is more than 80dB, and the rise/fall time is less than 15ns. Pulse train generator has pulse width of 20ns ~ 300s and as many as 2047 different pulses. The pulse repetition period can be changed from one up to 65,535 which produces a very long, customisable pulse train that can be used for testing.
The design also includes a five-inch touch screen and a keypad and knob for simple front panel operation. Two USB ports on the front panel for memory sticks and USB power sensors are also included and there is an upgraded digital platform for remote programming. The GUI includes multiple one-touch features to quickly set up measurement parameters including gated and external trigger modes.
The SSG6000A is covered by Siglent’s standard three year warranty and pre-sale and post-sale support.
