Single-stage quasi-resonant flyback controller is for LED drivers
Infineon Technologies has added the XDPL8210 LED driver IC to its XDP family.
The constant current flyback IC with a high power factor and primary-side regulation has a low bill of materials (BoM) for small system cost and high flexibility, says the company.
The LED IC supports a variety of LED driver products, based on the same hardware design to improve supply chain efficiency, says Infineon.
The XDP8210 uses a PWM dimming input signal and modulates the output current amplitude proportional to the duty cycle. A dim-to-off mode offers a standby power of less than 100mW. The output voltage that can be varied by a factor of three.
The power factor is more than 0.9 and total harmonic distortion is less than 15 per cent over a wide load and input range, says Infineon. The XDPL8210 supports the IEC61000-3-2 class C standard, and is therefore suitable for LED luminaires. In these applications, the limited power mode improves functional safety and algorithms provide flicker-free dimming below one per cent, says Infineon.
The XDPL8210 implements an adaptive temperature guard that prevents the driver hardware from thermal wear out. Additionally, the adaptive over-voltage protection enables lower safety margins to meet safety extra low voltage (SELV) specifications.
The XDPL8210 is available in DSO-8 package and can be ordered now.
