Six-slot chassis is rugged for SOSA-aligned deployable applications

Designed for deployable applications which require alignment with the Open Group SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture), the ATR-3600S is s six-slot chassis that accepts 3U plug in cards as well as a VITA 62 power supply. The rugged, short ½ ATR is the latest off the shelf chassis from Elma Electronic.

“The increased availability of plug-in cards aligned to SOSA is accelerating the speed of integration and enabling more rapid field testing of complex sensor systems,” said Mark Littlefield, director of system products for Elma Electronic. “The ATR-3600S builds on that by giving integrators a COTS-based, ready-to-deploy, SOSA aligned chassis to host a range of SOSA plug-in cards,” he added.

The ATR-3600S can be integrated with plug in cards such as compute- or I/O-intensive processors, Ethernet and PCIe switches, PNT and RF transceivers and it supports a range of interface connections.

The modular chassis offers a robust set of features for reliable and easy operation. It is designed to meet MIL-STD-810 and can be configured for any number of mission-critical applications such as tactical communications, C5ISR, EW and SigInt.

There is a USB-based maintenance aggregator port on the front panel to simplify servicing, claimed Elma. The aluminium dip-brazed exterior meets rugged requirements, confirmed the company.

The lightweight unit can be used in compact, low load applications and includes several military grade components, such as MIL-STD-38999 connectors and high-altitude fan tray that operates under extreme conditions. The power supply and line filter combination provides EMC shielding compliant to MIL-STD-461E.

Elma Electronic manufactures commercial, industrial and rugged electronic products for embedded systems and application-ready platforms from components, embedded boards, backplanes, chassis and enclosures, power supplies, to fully integrated subsystems.

Its product range includes standard and custom cabinets and enclosures as well as precision components such as rotary switches/encoders, LEDs, front panels and small cases.

Elma leverages proven technology based on VITA, PICMG, and other standards-based architectures (i.e. OpenVPX, SOSA, VME, CompactPCI Serial, COM Express and PCIe/104). Elma is also actively engaged in designing solutions for applications requiring smaller footprints.

Elma Electronic manages entire projects from initial system architecture to specification, design, manufacturing and test through its worldwide production facilities and sales offices. The company serves the mil/aero, industrial, research, telecom, medical and commercial markets and is certified to ISO 9001 and AS 9100.

The company’s headquarters are in Fremont, California and the company maintains multiple sales, engineering and manufacturing operations in Atlanta, Georgia and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
